About Gansu Province

Well, here is Gansu Province, where our little Jia girl is waiting for us. It is next to inner Mongolia, and Mongolia, as well as Xingjiang Region, and Qinghai to the southwest which borders Tibet, Shaanxi to the east, and Sichuan to the south. The Yellow River runs thru the capital city of Lanzhou(Lan-jo). It was once a mecca on the ancient silk road, and the province served as a pathway between China and the western world. Ancient Chinese armies battled the Huns(Attila) in this region, and Marco Polo stayed in Zhangye(that is where our daughter is) for a year.

The temperature is on the chilly side, though temperate. In Dec/Jan, which is the coldest, it can reach temps of -16 degrees F.

Some sights to see in Gansu are the 'Thousand Buddhas Caves" and the Spring prairie. The population is mixed minorities, with Han ethnicity being the most prevelant(90%), also there are Hui, Manchu, and Tibetans, among others.

Gansu women are rumored to be some of the most beautiful women in China! We couldn't help but agree!!!!
